The much-loved children's books, "The Gruffalo” and “The Gruffalo’s Child”, by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, have sold over 13 million copies worldwide and have been translated into over 40 languages.

To help celebrate the 15th birthday of The Gruffalo in 2014, BAJO Wooden Toys obtained the licensing rights to exclusively design and produce hand-crafted Gruffalo toys and figurines. All figurines are made from wood and are perfectly sized for children’s hands.

Enter the world of The Gruffalo and his forest friends through imaginative small world play. Children will love recreating the much-loved Gruffalo stories and telling some new ones...

The Gruffalo Story Basket for Small World Play at Oskar's Wooden Ark in Australia

Wojciech and Barbara Bajor founded BAJO Wooden Toys in 1993. Together with their daughter Anna and a fantastic team of creatives and craftspeople they manufacture high quality wooden toys in their workshop near Kraków, at the foot of the Polish Carpathian Mountains.

The timber that BAJO uses in their wooden toy production comes from carefully selected regional forests and orchards. All BAJO’s wooden toys are hand-checked for quality and will stand up to years of play. Furthermore, they correspond to all EU and US standards and requirements, making them safe for children of all ages. BAJO also gives back and supports the local community by participating in many educational and developmental projects.

It is no wonder that BAJO has received many awards, including the prestigious Design Award at the Toy Fair in Nuremberg.

How did the Gruffalo arrive at the Ark?

Simon took a stroll through the deep dark wood,
He met the Gruffalo and the Gruffalo looked good.
The Gruffalo growled at him but Simon said:
“Why don’t you come with me to our Ark instead?”

The Gruffalo hesitated and looked confused, 
This guy didn’t look scary, but he was amused...
“Who is this man and where is he from?
Would it be safe for me to go along?”

“Australia, mate, is the place to be. 
You won’t regret it if you agree.
You’ll be played with often, not just in theory,
Because there are many Aussie kids who love you dearly.”
